Caldwell County has received new NC Rural Center funds which will be used to renovate an abandoned building in Caldwell County. N.C. State Rep. Edgar Starnes received notification confirming that the county received a $100,000 grant from the NC Rural Center to assist in funding the renovations of Timber Wolf’s future home. The property is located on Freezer Locker Road and was previously owned and operated by Kincaid Furniture.
Rep Starnes said award letters soon will be in the hands of local officials. Starnes was very pleased with the announcement and glad to see additional jobs and a vacant building being revitalized in the area.
Caldwell County Commission Chair, Herb Greene, was very happy with this announcement, saying “It is very pleasing to see companies that are able to grow and invest in Caldwell County, even during tough economic times. The owners of Timber Wolf should be commended for taking these steps. We appreciate what they are doing and we are especially appreciative to the NC Rural center for their assistance. The Rural Center is a wonderful partner and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
Timber Wolf Forest Products has been in operation since 1998 and not only provides parts for end users but also manufacturers their on line of wood products for distribution. Company owners, Randy and Rita Roper, believe their success and growth has been based on quick turn-around times, quality workmanship and competitive pricing. They also believe that faith plays a major role in their efforts “faith in our systems, faith in the Timber Wolf Team, faith in a continuing demand for our products and faith in God to allow us to continue with this work.”
Ann Smith, chair of the Economic Development Commission of Caldwell County, was also pleased to hear the news saying “This is further proof that the wood products industry is alive in Caldwell County. We are glad to see companies continuing to grow and add new employees in a traditional manufacturing sector. Thank you Timber Wolf and the NC Rural Center.”
Renovations on the building are underway and are anticipated to be completed late this summer. When completed Timber Wolf will be transferring their operations to the new location. They have committed to adding ten new jobs at this site in the course of the next 24 months.
This is the fourth Building Reuse and Renovation Grant that has been received in Caldwell County from the NC Rural Center during the last 24 months. These grants have helped create 145 new jobs and provided $525,000.00 in funding. Previous grant recipients in the county have been: New River Building Supply, A.M.P. RTI and McCreary Modern, Inc.
